你知道請假、加班、出差...等等常見的職場英文要怎麼說嗎？

本篇為初階職場英文，一次整理基本常用的英文給你！

1. 「請假」

想要請假，你可以這樣說:

I’d like to take ∕ ask for _ leave of absence for _ days.

我想要請__天的__假。

I’d like to take _ days off .

我想要請__天的假。

Example:

I’d like 

to take a day off because I get a cold.

我想請假一天因為我感冒了。

I’d like to

 take for official leave of absence for 2 days.

我要請兩天的公假。

[請假常用單字]

1. 事假：personal leave

2. 病假：sick leave
3. 公假：official leave
4. 年假：annual leave  
→ annual表示「每年的、年度的」
5. 婚假；marriage leave
6. 產假；maternity leave
→ maternity 表示「產婦的」或「產房」；maternity dress 表示「孕婦裝」、 maternity leave 則為「產假」
7. 陪產假：paternity leave
8. 生理假：menstruation leave→ menstruation 表示 「月經、經期」；女生月經來可以說：I’ve got my period.    
9. 喪假：funeral leave 

[實用片語]
1. call in sick — 打電話請病假

Tom called in sick this morning.

湯姆早上打電話請病假。

2. pull a sickie — 裝病請假：

He pulled a sickie to go to the baseball game.

他裝病去看棒球賽。

3. cover for — 代理職務

Could you cover for me tonight?

你今晚可以幫我代班嗎？

2. 「上、下班」

想必對上班族來說，最喜歡的字大概就是下班(go off work)了，所以快用法把用力記起來吧!
1. 上班：go to work
2. 下班：get off work／knock off work

I’ll call you as soon as I get off work. (我下班打給你)

He can’t get off work on time today. (他今天沒辦法準時下班)

[小提醒]

雖然說下班了就是離開工作崗位，所以可能會有人想到leave，但是leave work/a job 通常是指永久離開一個職位的意思，所以要小心使用，不要會錯意囉!

[其他說法]

leave the office

I’m still at work. I’ll call you as soon as I leave the office.
我還在上班，一下班就打電話給你。

to call it a day 今天就到此為止吧

常見的說法是「Let’s call it a day.」

Let ‘ s call it a day . we ‘ ve done enough today
今天到此為止。我們今天做得夠多了。

3. 「加班」：work/do overtime

A: Would you like to have dinner with me？

B: Sorry, I have to work overtime.

A: 你想不想和我一起吃晚餐呢?

B: 抱歉，我必須加班。

He refused to work overtime on weekends.

他拒絕假日加班。

[小補充] 加班費：overtime (pay)
He received $200 overtime (pay) last month.

Dave: Working late again?
Joseph: Yeah. I feel like I live at the office.
Dave: You should go home on time.
Joseph: It’s not that easy.
Dave: You need a better work-life balance. (工作和生活之間的平衡)
Joseph: I know. I have no time for my personal life anymore.
